Beaches on Marco Island: Access, Parking & What to Know

Marco Island’s Gulf-facing shore runs for miles, but the beaches differ a lot in how you actually get onto them — public parking, resident-only access, a lagoon crossing, or a private community gate. Here is what to expect at each.

Tigertail Beach on the northwest side is the marquee public beach, known for its shallow lagoon and the Sand Dollar Island spit that draws shorebirds and shell-seekers. Resident’s Beach off S Collier is for members of the Marco Island Civic Association’s Beach Club. South Marco Beach has public access near Swallow Avenue at the south end, while Hideaway Beach occupies the private north tip and Winterberry offers a quieter neighborhood access point.

Tigertail Beach fronts a shallow lagoon rather than the open Gulf. Across it is the Sand Dollar Island spit, a state Critical Wildlife Area for shorebirds: nesting areas may be posted closed from March 1 to August 31, and the submerged mudflats are posted year-round, so keep out of posted areas.

Can you visit Hideaway Beach on Marco Island?

Hideaway Beach sits on the private, gated north tip of the island and is not open public-access beach the way Tigertail or South Marco Beach are. Plan around the public and resident beaches unless you’re staying within the community.
